Materials: Fingering Weight Baby Yarn 50 gm Skeins - 3 Skeins
 Crochet Hook Size 2/C or 2.75 mm

Stitches:
Shell: Work 4 dc in st.
Picot: Ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook.
Shell Pattern: Row 1: (wrong side): * Ch 3, sk next st, shell in next st, sk
next st, sl st in next st; rep from * across.
Row 2: * Ch 3, shell in sl st, sl st in next ch-3 sp; rep from * across.
Rep row 2 for pattern st.

Size: Newborn

Sweater:
Yoke: Beg at neck edge, ch 61 loosely.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across–60 sc. Note: Ch 1
and turn at end of each row.
Row 2: Sc in each of 12 sc for front, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of 4 sc
for sleeve, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of 24 sc for back, 3 sc in next sc,
sc in each of 4 sc for sleeve, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of 12 sc for
front–68 sc.
Rows 3, 5, 7 and 9: Sc in each sc across.
Row 4: Sc in each of 13 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of 6 sc, 3 sc in
next sc, sc in each of 26 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of 6 sc, 3 sc in
next sc, sc in each of 13 sc–76 sc.
Row 6: Sc in each of 14 sc, 3 sc in next sc, sc in each of 8 sc, 3 sc in

Row 11: Sc in each sc across. Turn.

Body:
Rows 1 and 2: Work rows 1 and 2 of shell pat–25 shells. Turn.
Rows 3 and 4: Rep row 2. Divide work after row 4.

Right Front:
Next Row: Work in pat across 4 shells, turn.
Work in pat on 4 shells for 6 more rows. Fasten off.

Back:
Sk next 4 shells on yoke for right sleeve, join yarn with a sl st in sl st, ch
3, work shell in same sl st, work in pat across next 8 shells. Turn.
Work in pat on 9 shells for 6 more rows. End off.

Left Front:
Sk next 4 shells on yoke for left sleeve, join yarn with a sl st in sl st, ch 3,
work 4 dc in same sl st, work in pat across. Turn.
Work in pat on 4 shells for 6 more rows; do not fasten off. Turn.

Join Body:
Next Row: Work across 4 shells of left front, ch 3, sl st in first sl st of
back, ch 3, and work in pat across 9 shell son back, ch 3, sl st in first sl
st of right front, ch 3 and work in pat across 4 shells on right front. Turn.
Following Row: Work in pat across right front, ch 3, shell in first ch of ch-
3 sp on underarm, sl st in 2nd ch of ch-3, ch 3, cont in pat across back,
work extra shell as before in left underarm, finish row–19 shells. Turn.
Work even for 17 more rows. Fasten off.

Sleeves: (make 2):
From wrong side, join yarn in center ch of ch-3 at right underarm.
Working up armhole of right front, ch 3, work 2 shell pats to yoke, work
across 4 shells on sleeve, work 2 shell pats down armhole of back–8
shells. Turn.
Work even for 18 more rows. Turn.

Border:
Row 1: Ch 1; * sc in each of 2 dc, sk next dc, sc in next sc, sc in ch-3 sp;
rep from * across–32 sc. Note: Ch 1 and turn at end of each row.
Rows 2-5: Sc in each sc across. Fasten off at end of row 5.
From wrong side, join yarn in center ch of ch-3 at left underarm and
work left sleeve as for right sleeve.

Finishing:
Lightly steam press pieces.
Sew sleeve seams.

Beading and Edging:
From right side, join yarn at neck edge. Ch 4; (sk 1 ch, dc in next ch, ch
1) across neck edge. Working down front edge, * work picot, sk 1 row on
edge, sc in edge of next row; rep from * around outer edge of sweater,
keeping work flat and work sc in every other row of pat on front edges, 2
picots in each shell across lower edge and sc in every other sp of
beading. Fasten off.

Cut two 90 inch strands of yarn. Make twisted cord as follows: Hold the
strands together with ends even; tie a tight overhand knot close to one
end. Use pushpin or tape to secure knot to a fixed object. Twist strands
together firmly in a clockwise direction until they begin to kink if tension
is relaxed. Bring free end to knotted one, folding strands in half and
allow the two halves to twist together in a counterclockwise direction.
Thread cord through neck beading.

Pom poms: (make 2):
Wind yarn 20 times around a 1 inch piece of cardboard. Tie loops of
one end together. But loops of other end. Remove cardboard, trim and
fluff ends. Sew a pom-pom to each end of cord.

Bonnet: (crown):
Ch 4, sl st in first ch to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Work 8 sc in ring, sl st to beg sc to join. Note: Ch 1 and turn at
end of each rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc–16 sc.
Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around–24 sc.
Rnd 4: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 5: Rep rnd 3–36 sc.
Rnd 6: * Sc in each of next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around–48 sc.
Rnds 7 and 8: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 9: * Sc in each of next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc; rep from * around–60 sc.
Rnd 10: Rep rnd 9–75 sc.
Rnds 11 and 12: Sc in each sc around. At end of rnd 12, sl st in first sc
and fasten off. Turn.

Front:
Row 1: (right side): Sk 7 sc from end of rnd 12, join yarn in next sc; * ch
3, sk next sc, shell in next sc, sk next sc, sl st in next sc, ch 3, sk next sc,
shell in next sc, sk next 2 sc, sl st in next sc; rep from * 5 times, ch 3, sk
next sc, shell in next sc, sk next 2 sc, sl st in next sc–13 shells. Leave
rem sc for neck edge. Turn.
Work in shell pat until 14 pat rows are completed, ending after a wrong
side row. Turn.

Edging:
Row 1: (right side): Ch 1; * sc in each of 2 dc, sk next dc, sc in next dc,
sc under ch-3 sp; rep from * across. Turn.
Rows 2 and 3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Do not turn at end of row 3.
Working on neck edge, work 2 rows in sc, dec to desired fit. Turn.

Beading:
Ch 4; * sk next sc, dc in next sc, ch 1; rep from * across neck edge.
Working across front edge, * work picot, sk next sc, sc in next sc; rep
from * across, sc in each st across beading on neck edge. Fasten off.
Finishing:
Steam press bonnet lightly.
Using two 78 inch lengths of yarn, make twisted cord as instructed in
sweater. Thread cord through beading.
Make two 1 inch pom-poms and sew to ends of cord.

Booties: (sole):
Ch 14.
Rnd 1: Work 3 sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each of next 11 ch, 3 sc in
last ch; working on other side of starting ch, sc in each of next 11 ch–28
sc. Do not join rnds; mark ends of rnds.
Rnd 2: (Work 2 sc in each of next 3 sc, sc in each of 11 sc) twice–34 sc.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) 3 times, sc in each of next 12 sc, 2
sc in next sc, (sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc) twice, sc in each of next 11
sc–40 sc.
Rnds 4 and 5: Sc around, inc 3 sc evenly spaced each on toe and heel
end–52 sc at end of Rnd 5.

Foot:
Rnds 1-6: Sc in each sc around. At end of rnd 6, cont to center st at
next end, work 4 sc beyond center st, sl st in next st. Ch 1 and turn.

Instep:
Sc in each of next 9 sc. Sl st in next st on foot, ch 1, turn each row.
Work in sc on these 9 sts for 9 more rows, joining sides of instep to foot
each row. Fasten off.

Top: Join yarn in sc at center back of foot. Work in shell pat around–7
shells. Do not join; turn.
Work in shell pat for 5 more rows.
Work a picot row same as on lower edge of sweater. Fasten off.

Finishing:
Weave edges of top tog.
Make two 18 inch twisted cords; run through first row of shell pat.
Make two 1 inch pom-poms. Sew a pom-pom to each end of cord; tie
ends into a bow.
