Christmas Tree Potholder
Materials: Crochet Cotton 1-160 yd ball green and 1-50
yd ball white
Crochet Hook Size 7 or 1.5 mm
With green ch 70, dc in 4th st from hook, 1 dc in each
remaining st of ch, ch 1, turn (68 dc)
Row 2 -7: Sl st in next dc, ch 3 and work 1 dc in each dc
omitting the last dc, thus decreasing 2 dc in row. After
row 7 ch 5, break thread.
Row 8: Attach white at opposite end and work 1 sc in
each of the next 3 dc, * thread over hook, insert hook in
top of next st of 6th row and work off as a dc, skip the st
in back of the dc, 1 sc in each of the next 4 dc, dc in top
of corresponding st of 6th row, skip the st in back of the
dc, sc in next st, trc in top of next st of 5th row, skip the
st in back of trc, sc in next st, dc in top of corresponding
st of 6th row, skip the st in back of dc, 1 sc in each of the
next 4 dc, repeat from * 4 times, dc in top of st of 6th
row, skip the st in back of dc, 1 sc in each remaining dc,
break white.
Row 9: Attach green in 1st sc of last row, ch 7, dc in 4th
st from hook, 1 dc in each of the next 3 sts of ch, then
work 1 dc in each st across row working 1 dc in each st
of ch at end of row, turn.
Rows 10 - 15: Decrease 1 dc at beginning of each row
and 2 dc at end of each row. Then ch 4, break thread.
Row 16: Attach white at opposite end and work 1 sc in
each of the next 3 dc, * dc in top of 2nd row below, skip
the st in back of the dc, sc in next dc, trc in top of st of
3rd row below, skip the st in back fo the trc, sc in next
st, dc in top of st of 2nd row below, skip the st in back of
dc, 1 sc in each of the next 4 dc, repeat from * across
row, break white.
Row 17: Attach green in 1st sc of last row, ch 6, dc in 4th
st from hook, 1 dc in each fo the next 2 sts of ch, then
work 1 dc in eahc st across row and 1 dc in each st of
ch at end of row.
Repeat rows 10 to 17.
Next 5 Rows: Decrease 2 dc at beginning and 2 dc at end
of each row, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: Sl st into each of the next 6 dc, ch 3 and work
1 dc in each fo the next 12 dc, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: Sl st into each of the next 2 sts, ch 3 and work
1 dc in each of the next 8 dc, ch 1, turn.
Next Row: Sl st into each of the next 2 sts, ch 3 and work
1 dc in each of the next 4 dc, turn.
Next Row: * Thread over hook, insert in next st, pull
through, repeat from * twice, thread over and pull
through all loops on hook at one time, break thread.
Fold in half and mark center st at lower edge for trunk.
Attach green in 4th st from center, ch 3, 1 dc in each of
the next 7 sts, ch 3, turn.
Next 2 Rows: 1 dc in each dc, break thread.
Work another section in same manner. With white,
crochet the 2 sections together with a row of sc working
a 4 ch picot at each point. With white chain a hanger.
