A Dozen Christmas Bells

Materials: Crochet Cotton no 10 or size you desire
    Steel Crochet Hook Size 7

Bell Base: To be used for all bells.
Clapper: Ch 4, 7 dc in first ch, sl st to join, ch 3, sl st in opposite side of center, ch 17.
Hanger Loop: Make 1 knot st (pull last ch lp made up about 1”, pull thread through as though making 1 more ch, go into the back of st
where 1 strand seems to be along and sc in this st, you will have 3 threads in 1 long st), ch 1, sl st in top of ch before (knot st - kn st),
ch 1, sc around holding the 3 strands tog to form ring, sl st in first sc.
Keeping clapper below and hanger above, work top of bell as follows:
Rnd 1: Ch 4, * hdc in base of hanger, ch 2, rep from * 2 times, sl st to second ch of ch 4 to join, (forms 4 ch-2 sps around base of
hanger ring).
Rnd 2: ch 3, 4 dc in sp, * dc in hdc, 4 dc in sp, rep from * 2 times, sl st in top of ch 3 to join.
Rnd 3: Working in back lps only, ch 3, dc in same sp, 2 dc in every dc around, sl st to join. (40 dc)

No 1
Picot Bell:
(Picot = Ch 3, sl st in first ch)
Rnd 1: * Ch 5, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around, ending with ch 3, dc in base of ch 5.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sp, * ch 1, sc in ch-5 lp, rep from * around, ending with ch 1, sc in base of ch 1.
Rnd 3: * Ch 5, sc in sc, rep from * around, ending same as rnd 1.
Rnd 4: Rep rnd 2.
Rnds 5 & 6: Rep rnds 3 and 4.
Rnd 7: Work same as rnd 3 except ch 6, tr to end off.
Rnd 8: Rep rnd 2.
Rnd 9: Rep rnd 7.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in same sp, * ch 1, p, ch 1, sc in next ch-6 lp, rep from * around, ending with sl st in first ch 1, fasten off, pull through
and work in ends.

No 2
Shell Picot Bell:
(picot = ch 3, sl st I first ch)
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same place, * ch 3, sk 2 dc, sc in next dc, ch 2, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around, ending with ch 2, sl st in
beg ch 1.
Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-3 sp, ch 3, in same sp work 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, * sk ch-2 sp, in next ch-3 sp work shell by making 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc, rep
from * around, ending with sl st in top of ch 3, sl st to ch-3 sp in center of shell.
Rnds 3 & 4: Rep rnd 2.
Rnds 5 & 6: Shell over shell with ch 1 between each shell.
Rnd 7: Shell over shell with ch 2 between each shell.
Rnd 8: Sc in top of each dc, in shell center work 1 sc, p, 1 sc, in ch-2 sps work 3 sc, sl st to beg sc, fasten off, work in ends. (There
should be 11 sc between picots in center of shells)

No 3
Extra Bell:
Work in back of loop.
Rnd 1: Ch 4, going behind ch, tr in previous dc, * sk 1 dc, tr in next dc, go behind this tr Rnds 2 - 5: Rep rnd 1 except for working in
tops of trs, keep each X lined up with one on the rnd above.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, dc in next dc, go behind that dc and dc in base of ch 3, * dc in next 2 tr, go behind the second dc, dc in same sp as first
dc (inc made), rep from * around, sl st in top of ch 3 to join, fasten off, work in ends.

No 4
Windowpane Bell:
Rnd 1: Work in back of lps for this rnd only. Ch 1, sc in same place, sc in each dc around, sl st to join.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, sk 1 sc, * dc in next sc, ch 1, rep from * around, sl st to ch 1 to join.
Rnd 3: Ch 4, * sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1, rep from * around, sl st in third ch of ch 4 to join. (Rnds 2 and 3 form the windowpane effect)
Repeat rnds 2 and 3 as a pattern for rnds 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. This will be three more pattern sets.
Rnd 10: Ch 5, * sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 2, rep from * around, sl st in third of ch 5 to join.
Rnd 11: Ch 1, sc in same place, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, * sc in top of dc, 2 sc in ch-2 sp, rep from * around, sl st to first sc to join.
Rnd 12: Ch 2, * sc in next sc, ch 2, rep from * around, sl st to base of first ch 2, fasten off, work in all loose ends.

No 5
Fancy Simple Bell
Rnd 1: *Ch 3, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around, ending with ch 1, dc in base of first ch 3.
Rnds 2-7: * Ch 3, sc in next ch-3 sp, rep from * around, ending with ch 1, dc in base of beg ch 3.
Rnd 8: Same as before except ch 2.
Rnd 9: Ch 1, sc in same place, sc in next ch sp 2 times, * sc in sc, 2 sc in next ch sp, rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 10: Ch 3, dc in next sc, (picot - p, ch 3, sl st in first ch), * dc in next 2 sc, p, rep from * around, ending with sl st in top of first ch 3,
fasten off, work in ends.

No 6
Tower Bell:
Rnd 1: Ch 1, sc in same place, ch 1, * sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, rep from * around, ending with sl st in beg sc.
Rnd 2: Sl st into ch-1 sp, ch 2, * sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, ending with sl st in first ch 1.
Rnds 3-6 : Repeat rnd 2.
Rnd 7: Sl st into ch-1 sp, ch 4, * dc in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, ending with sl st in third ch of ch 4, sl st into ch-1 sp.
Rnds 8 & 9: Same as rnd 2.
Rnd 10: Same as rnd 7.
Rnd 11 -  13: Same as rnd 2.
Rnd 14: Same as rnd 7, except every other ch-1 sp needs to be a ch 2.
Rnd 15: * Sc in top of dc, 2 sc in ch-1 sp, sc in dc, 3 sc in ch-2 sp, rep from * around to finish, fasten off work in ends.
Optional: A tiny ribbon woven through rnds of openings and tied in tiny bows to make crocheted chain using a different colour and
weave through in the same manner.

No 7
Skipper Bell:
Rnd 1: * Ch 2, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around, sl st to base of ch 2 to join, sl st to top.
Rnd 2: *Ch 2, sk sc, sc in ch-2 sp, rep from * around, sl st to base of ch 2 to join, sl st into sp.
Rnds 3 - 8: Ch 4, * dc in ch-1 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, sl st to join, sl st in ch-1 sp for next rnd.
Rnd 9: *Ch 3, sc in ch-1 sp, ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * around. (If it does not come out even, the pattern is not interrupted), sl
st to join.
Rnd 10: Ch 3, 3 dc in ch-2 sp, dc in sc, 2 dc in ch-1 sp, dc in sc; follow this pattern around, sl st to top of ch 3 to join, fasten off, work
in ends.

No 8
Delightful Fancy Bell:
(Do not work in back loop)
Rnd 1: Make knot stitch about 1/3” long; pull thread lp almost 1/3”, pull thread through as though making a ch, go across top and pick
out the single strand and make a sc (kn st completed), ch 1, * sk 1 dc, kn st in next dc, ch 1, rep from * around, sl st in top of first kn st
to join, sc in same place.
Rnd 2: * Sc in ch-1 sp, sc in top of kn st, rep from * around, ending with sl st in top of first sc.
Repeat pattern of one rnd of kn sts and one rnd of scs, 2 times. (Rnds 3,4; Rnds 5,6)
Rnd 7: Repeat rnd 1 working in tops of sc instead of dc.
Rnd 8: * Make kn st, sk ch 1, sc in top of kn st, rep from * around, ending with sl st into base of first kn st of rnd, fasten off, work in
ends.
Note: This rnd is across not up and down.

Desiree Bell:
Rnd 1: * Ch 4, sk 1 dc, sc in next dc, rep from * around, ending with ch 2, dc in base of first ch 4.
Rnd 2: Sc in same place, ch 1, * sc in ch-4 sp, ch 1, rep from * around, ending with sl st in first sc.
Rnd 3: Do this rnd loosely: Sl st into ch-1 sp, * ch 4, sc in next ch-1 sp, rep from * around, end with ch 2, dc in base of first ch 4.
Rnds 4, 6 & 8: Repeat rnd 2.
Rnds 5 & 7: Repeat rnd 3.

base of bell, sk 1 dc of base, sc in dc, ch 1.
Row 3: * Ch 4, hdc in second hdc, rep from * 2 times, ch 4, dc in bottom dc.
Row 4: Ch 4, dc in dc, ch 1, dc about center of ch 4, * ch 1, hdc in next hdc, ch 1, hdc about center of ch 4, rep from * 2 times, sk 1 dc
of base, sc in next dc, ch 1.
Rows 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21 are worked like row 3.
Rows 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 are worked like row 4.

Rnds 3 - 9: Repeat rnd 2.

Important-don not work loosely.

Rnd 4: Work 1 tr in each st around, sl st to join.
Rnd 5: Work 1 dtr in each st around, sl st to join.
Rnd 6: Sc around, inc 1 sc in every second or third st evenly spaced around, sl st to join.
Rnd 7: * Ch 2, go backward and sc in sc, rep from * around continuing backward being sure to sc in every sc of previous rnd, sl st to
