Garden Time Bib
Materials: Lily Sugar ‘n Cream 4 Ply Cotton Yarn 2.5 oz Balls, 1 Lilac, 1 Purple,
Small amount of Lt Green, Med Green, Dk Green, Yellow, Pink, Orange & Red
Crochet Hook Size F or 4.00
Tapestry Needle
Starting at lower edge with lilac, ch 45.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Sc in each sc across. Ch 1, turn. (44 sc)
Rep row 2 for pattern until bib is 13 ½" from beginning.
Neck Shaping:
Row 1: Work across first 14 sc (do not work remaining sts), ch 1, turn. This edge is neck
edge.
Row 2-8: Continue in sc and dec 1 sc at neck edge, every other row 4 times (10 sc rem).
Break off. Skip center 16 sc, join yarn and work end of row. Mark beg of row for neck
edge.
Starting with row 2, complete as for first side.
Border:
Rnd 1: With purple, sc evenly spaced around entire bib; working sc, ch and sc in each
outside corner. Join and break off.
Short Row:
Starting at neck edge of shoulder, work shell border across shoulder, work shell border
across shoulder edge, side edge, lower edge, other side edge and shoulder edge, sl st in
next sc, * sk 2 sc, sl st in next sc. Rep from * across. Break off.
Ties and Neck Edge:
With purple, crochet a chain 12" in length for first tie, then sc in each sc across neck
edge, then sc in each sc across neck edge, then crochet another chain 12" in length.
Break off. Make a knot 1" from each end. Tie ends in bow.
Flowers:
Center: With yellow, ch 5. Join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Work 10 sc in ring.
Rnd 2: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, (15 sc). Break off.
Rnd 3: With pink, sc in any sc * ch 3, sk 2 sc, sc in next sc. Rep from * around, end sk 2
sc, sl st in first sc.
Rnd 4: In each ch-3 lp work: 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc, 1 hdc and 1 sc. Break off. Make
two more flowers, one in orange and one in red.
Leaves:
Make 10 in all, using shades of green. Starting in center, ch 5.
Rnd 1: Sc in 3rd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in last ch, then working across opposite
edge of starting ch; sc in each of next 2 ch, work 3 sc in turning ch.
Rnd 2: Sc in each sc around, working 2 sc in each of the 2 sc at each end. Join with sl st
and break off. Following the pic, pin flowers and leaves in place, then sew to bib. W
Weave in all ends.
