Ladies Tasseled Scarf
Materials: 1150 yds of Rayon or Silky Light Weight Yarn
Crochet Hook Size 5 Steel or 2.00 mm
Approximate Finished Size Width across top edge 50" & Depth at
center point 40"
Ch 8.
Base Row: 1 tr in 8th ch from hook. Turn.
Row 1: Ch 8, (1 dc, ch 3, 1 tr) in foundation triangle. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 8, 1 dc in first loop, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 1 tr) in last loop.
Turn.
Row 3: Ch 8, 1 dc in first loop, ch 3, 1 dc in next loop, ch 3, (1 dc, ch
3, 1 tr) in last loop. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 8, 1 dc in first loop, ch 3, (1 dc in next loop, ch 3) twice, (1
dc, ch 3, 1 tr) in last loop. Turn
Row 5: Ch 8, 1 dc in first loop, ch 3, * 1 dc in next loop, ch 3, rep
from * to last loop, ( 1 dc, ch 3, 1 tr) in last loop. Turn.
Repeat last row until there are 100 loops across top edge ( 94 more
rows) and until depth measures 40" from foundation loop.
Do not fasten off, but continue down the side edge.
Side Edging:
Ch 2, 1 sc in first loop, ch 2, *(2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next loop, ch 2, 1
sc in next loop, ch 2. Repeat from * until lower corner is reached.
Repeat pattern again in this loop to ease corner and continue
edging on opposite side to match.
Do not fasten off, but continue for ties and top edging.
Top Edging:
Row 1: Ch 41, 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in each ch, 3 sc in
each loop across top of scarf. Turn.
Row 2: As first row.
Row 3: Ch 1, 1 sc in each sc to end. Fasten off.
Tassel:
Cut 18 pieces of yarn, each 15" long. Fold strands in half to form a
loop. Insert hook in loop at lower corner of scarf, draw loop though.
Then draw ends through loop and pull tightly to secure tassel knot.
Trim ends neatly. Do not press.
