You will not need the whole ball
Crochet Hook Size H or 5.00
Abbreviations:
st - stitch
ch - chain
sk - skip
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
This is about a ladies size medium hat for larger or smaller adjust your hook size up or down
Band:
Ch 11.
Row 1: Hdc in second ch from hook and each st to end.
Row 2: Ch 1, hdc in both loops in first st, hdc in BLO until last st, hdc in both loops in last st.
Continue with row 2 until ribbing measures around 18 inches. Then sl st across first and last row together. Turn hat
right side out.
Body:
Ch 1, sc picking up 76 stitches around the brim. Sl st in first sc.
Starting with next row do not join each row, work in spiral, but keep marker on the very first st therefore marking your
starting st.
Rnd 1: Ch 2, sc in second st, ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc in next st. Continue this pattern ch 1, sk 1, sc in next st, not joining, until
you have worked 7 inches in the body.
I prefer measuring rather than counting rows. I find that much easier.
