Royal Starburst Tablecloth
Materials: Crochet Cotton Size 20
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7 or 1.50 mm
Wrap the cord over two fingers 7 times, leaving the end a few inches long. Take the
thread on the needle, ch 3, dc over the ring 41 times, join. Draw end of thread, working
ring with the fingers, until it is smooth and uniform and the opening is about ¾ inches in
diameter.
Row 1: Ch 3, 3 dc in back thread of next st, holding last loop of all 4 sts on needle and
draw through all at once, ch 1 to bind, ch 2, 4 dc in 3rd st, holding last loop of all 4 sts on
needle. Draw through all at once, 1 st to bind, ch 2. Rep all around, having 14 groups, ch
2, join. The back thread of st is taken in every row, leaving the front st conspicuous.
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in every st, widen with extra 24 dc (putting 2 dc in about every 2nd st),
making 80 sts in row, join.
Row 3: Ch 10, sl st in 4th st of second row. Repeat all around, having 20 meshes, sl st to
middle of 1st mesh.
Row 4: Ch 10, sc over middle of every mesh, sl st to middle of 1st mesh.
Row 5: Ch 3, dc in middle st of mesh, ch 2, 2 dc in same st, 7 ch, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in
middle st of next mesh; rep around, join, sl st to middle of small shell.
Row 6: Ch 3, dc in same mesh, ch 2, 2 dc in same mesh, ch 6, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next

about an inch long or until it lies flat and smooth, then work off the threads on the needle.

Row 11: Ch 3, dc in every st of 10th row, having 260 sts, join.
Row 12: Ch 3, 3 dc in first st, holding loop of all 4 sts on needle, draw through all at once,
ch 3; rep around, join, having 65 groups when done.
Row 13: Ch 3, dc in every st of row 12. Widen with 4 extra dc, having 264 sts in row, join.
