Valentine Slippers
Materials: 4-Ply Yarn 5 oz Black, 2 oz White, small amount of Rose
Crochet Hook Size F/5 or 4.00 mm
Yarn Needle
Size Medium
Note: Slippers can be made larger or smaller before you start the
dec rows. If making larger slippers, allow sufficient black yarn to
complete.
Note: Front post dc (fpdc): Yo, insert hook from front to back and to
front again around the vertical post (upright part) of next st, yo and
draw yarn through, yo and complete dc.
Slippers:
(make 2)
Row 1: Starting at heel end, with black yarn, ch 43, sc in 2nd ch
from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (42)
Row 2: Working in back lps only, ch 3, dc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, fpdc around each dc across, turn.
Rows 4-19: Rep rows 2 and 3. (This is where slipper can be made
larger or smaller)
Row 20: Working in back lps only, ch 3, dc across, dec 7 dc evenly
sp across, turn. (35)
Row 21: Rep row 3.
Row 22: Rep row 2.
Row 23: Rep row 3.
Row 24: Working in back lps only, ch 3, dc across, dec 6 dc evenly
sp across, turn. (29)
Row 25: Rep row 3.
Row 26: Rep row 24. (23)
Row 27: Repeat row 3.
Row 28: Ch 1, sc in each st across, leaving a 12-inch length of yarn.
Fasten off.
Thread yarn needle with rem length of yarn, weave through sc sts of
row 28, pull tightly to gather knot to secure and sew front seam to
row 16. Fasten off.
With black and yarn needle, sew heel seam closed.
Heart Cuff:
Row 1: With right side facing, attach white at front, ch 1, work 51 sc
evenly sp around opening, turn. (51)
Row 2: Working in back lps only, ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 3-5: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn.
Rows 6-10: Following graph for colour changes, ch 1, sc in each st
across, turn each row.
Row 11: With white only, ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. (51)
Row 12: Working in back lps only, ch 1, sc in same st, [ch 3, sk 1 st,
sc in next st] rep across, fasten off.
Ties:
(make 2)
With white yarn, leaving a 4-inch length at beg, ch 90, fasten off,
leaving a 4-inch length. Weave each tie through row 2 of cuff.
Hearts:
(make 4)
With rose, ch 5, 5 hdc in 3rd ch from hook, sl st in next ch, 6 hdc in
next ch, working on center ch of opposite side of foundation ch,
work 1 hdc, 1 dc, 1 tr, 1 dc and 1 hdc in same ch, sl st to join in top
of starting ch, fasten off. Weave in loose end.
With remaining length of each end of each item, sew in sl st at
center top of heart. Weave in loose ends. Tie ends in a bow.
