Cup and Saucer Favour

Materials: South Maid Crochet Cotton 60 yds White
  Steel Crochet Hook Size 7
  Fabric Stiffener
  ½ yd of picot-edge satin ribbon in aqua ¼” wide
  1 oz plastic medicine cup
  Glue gun and glue sticks
  12” square of white tulle
  Candies
  Small Saucer with round bottom

Gauge: At end of rnd 2 of cup or saucer, piece is 1” in diameter

Cup:
Rnd 1: Starting at bottom ch 3, 11 dc in 3rd ch from hook, join with a sl
st in top of starting ch-3.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same st, 2 dc in each dc around to last dc, 3 dc in
last dc, join with a sl st in top of starting ch-3.
Rnd 3: Working back loops for this rnd ch 3, dc in same st, ch 2, 2 dc in
same st, * sk 2 dc, (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next dc. Rep from * around, join.
Rnd 4-7: Sl st to first ch-2 sp, ch 3, dc in same sp, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp,
* (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp. Rep from * around, join. Break off at
end of last rnd.

Handle:
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in 3rd ch from hook, ch 2, 2 dc in same ch, turn.
Row 2-7: Sl st across 2 dc to ch-2 sp, (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in same sp,
turn. Break off at end of last row.

Saucer:
Rnds 1-3: Rep rnds 1-3 of cup.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp, dc between next 2 dc
groups. Rep from * around, join.
Rnd 5: Ch 5, Ch 5, dc in same st, * (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next ch-2 sp,
(dc, ch 2, dc) in next dc. Rep from * around, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of
starting ch-5.
Rnd 6: Sl st to first ch-2 sp, ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc in same sp, (2 dc, ch 2,
2 dc) in each ch-2 sp around, join, break off.

Stiffening:
Dip crocheted pieces in fabric stiffener until wet. Squeeze out excess.
Cover a 16” square piece of cardboard with waxed paper. Place crochet
cup over medicine cup. Pin to cardboard. Place crocheted saucer over
bottom of saucer, pull ends out evenly. Pin handle to cardboard. Let all
pieces dry thoroughly. Remove medicine cup when crocheted pieces
are dry.

Finishing:
Glue cup to center of saucer with hot glue. Glue handle to cup with hot
glue, shaping handle. Place candy in center of tulle. With ribbon, gather
edges of tulle tightly at top. Tie ribbon in a knot, then in a bow. Trim
ends. Place in cup.
