Fabric Stiffener
18 Gauge White-Covered Florists Wire
2 Craft Pearl Sprays

Finished Size Approximately 5 ½” x 10”
Gauge: 6 sc and 7 rnds = 1”
Topper Base:
Rnd 1: Ch 2, work 6 sc in ring, do not join but mark ends of rnds with contrast thread.
Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc = 12 sc.
Rnd 3: Sc, inc 6 sc evenly spaced = 18 sc. Continue to inc 6 sc each rnd until there are
78 sc.
Bottom Rim:
Next Rnd: Working in back lps only, dc in next st, * ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st; rep from * ,
end ch 1, sk 1 st, join to first dc = 39 sps.
Rnd 2: Ch 4, * dc in next dc, ch 1; rep from * , join to 3rd ch of beg ch.
Rnd 3: Ch 1, sc in same place, * 5 dc shell in next dc, sc in next dc, ch 1, sc in next dc; rep
from * , join to first sc. Cut yarn.
Shell Edge:
Rnd 1: Join yarn in a free front lp of the rnd before first rnd of bottom ring, * ch 3, sk next
free lp of rnd, sl st in next free lp in front of next dc; rep from * , end ch 1, sk last free lp,
dc in first ch sp to make a joining sp.
Rnd 2: Sc in joining sp, * tr in next sp, (ch 1, tr in same sp) 3 times, sc in each of next 2
sps; rep from * , end sc in last sp, join to first sc. Cut yarn.
Full Arch: (make 2):
Row 1: Ch 106, then working over a straight length of wire, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in
each ch = 105 sc. Ch 3 (counts as dc), turn.
Row 2: Dc in next sc, (ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook for picot, sk 1 sc, dc in 2 sc) 10 times, *
picot, sk 1 sc, dc in 1 sc, in next sc work dc and picot and dc, dc in next sc for corner pat,
(picot, sk 1 sc, dc in 2 sc) 5 times; rep from * once more, corner pat over next 4 sc as
before, (picot, sk 1 sc, dc in 2 sc) 11 times. Cut yarn.
Half Arch: (make 1):
Row 1: Ch 55, and work over wire as for full arch = 54 sc.
Row 2: Work as for full arch, ending with picot, sk 1 sc and dc in last 2 sc and having only
1 corner pat. Cut yarn.
Bell: (make 2):
Rnds 1-3: As for topper base = 18 sc.
Rnds 4 and 6: Work even.
Rnd 5: Inc 6 sc evenly spaced = 24 sc.
Rnd 7: Ch 2 (counts as sc and ch 1), sc in same sp, (ch 1, sk 1 sc, sc and ch 1 and sc in
next sc) 11 times, ch 1, join with sl st in first ch.
Rnds 8-15: Sl st into first ch sp, ch 2 and sc in same sp, (ch 1, sc and ch 1 and sc in ch 1
sp between next 2 sc) 11 times, ch 1, join to first ch.
Rnd 16: Sl st into first ch sp, ch 4 (counts as dc and ch 1), dc in same sp, * ch 2, dc and
ch 1 and dc in sp between next 2 sc; rep from * , end ch 2, join to 3rd ch of beg ch 4.
Rnd 17: Sl st into first ch sp, ch 4, dc in same sp, * ch 2, dc and ch 1 and dc in ch 1 sp
between next 2 dc; rep from * , end ch 2, join.
Rnd 18: Sl st into first ch sp, 2 sc n same sp, * ch 1, sl st in ch 2 sp, ch 1, 2 sc in ch 1 sp

Assembly:
Bend each arch at corner pats. Center corner pat of each full arch is top point. Bend each
arch to the same shape and each full arch a width to fit topper base. Use fabric stiffener
to stiffen all pieces, shaping them and letting dry on a plastic covered surface. Trim off
excess wire ends. Use glue gun to glue bottom end of half arch between 2 shells on base
edge. Bend one full arch at top point to a 90 degree angle. Glue bottom ends of bent arch
to base and 2 shells apart from half arch. Glue flat full arch to base and 2 shells apart.
Glue tops of arches together.
Finishing:
Glue a small ribbon bow to center of base. Glue a pearl spray inside each bell. Glue bells
in place on bow, gluing tops of bells to half arch at center back. Make 2 ribbon bows and
glue between tops of arches.
